The total amount of forcibly displaced persons is on the rise worldwide. The number increased from 19.7 million in 2003 to currently 68.5 million. Out of these 68.5 million, 40 million are displaced within their country, 25.4 million have ed to other countries as refugees, and another 3.1 million have applied for asylum.
